The spirit of athleticism and competition was alive and thriving at the Calgary Independent School Athletic Association (CISSA) Track & Field Meet. On May 23rd, 2023, junior high students from grades 7 to 9 at the Calgary Jewish Academy (CJA) eagerly participated in this event, showcasing their skills and determination against over 500 students from more than 15 independent schools across the city.
Despite having a small contingent, the CJA students proved that they were mighty. A total of 25 students from the academy fearlessly took on a range of competitions, including: long jump, high jump, shot put, discus, javelin, and various track events.
Under the guidance of their dedicated coaches and teachers, the CJA students exhibited exceptional talent and sportsmanship throughout the event. Their commitment to excellence was evident as they put their best foot forward in every competition. Amidst fierce competition, the CJA students made their mark by securing 4 medals, a true testament to their dedication and hard work. These medalists will now advance to the city championships, representing their school and showcasing the talent nurtured at the Calgary Jewish Academy.
The CISSA Track & Field Meet was not only a platform for individual accomplishments but also a celebration of camaraderie and teamwork. Students from different schools came together to compete, forging new friendships and mutual respect along the way. The event fostered a sense of unity among the participants, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. The CJA students displayed not only their athletic abilities but also their ability to thrive in a supportive and encouraging environment.
As CJA students prepare for the upcoming city championships, they carry with them the pride and support of their school community. They have already made their mark at the CISSA Track & Field Meet, and they are determined to continue representing their school with utmost dedication and sportsmanship. The success achieved by CJA students serves as an inspiration to their peers and a testament to the school’s emphasis on cultivating character. We take great pride our students accomplishments, and we wish them the best as they continue to excel in their athletic pursuits.
