At the CJA, we recognize that all students are unique in their strengths, challenges, readiness for learning, and learning styles. We strive to motivate, and equip these individuals with the tools they require to succeed in academic environments, and to reach their full potential in learning, and in life.
The GAIN (Gifted and Identified Needs) department is here to nurture conditions for success in our inclusive classrooms by partnering together with our students, teachers, educational assistants, parents, therapists, and service providers to develop the whole child. GAIN offers various types of supports and strategies for students with identified needs, including those who have Individualized Program Plans (IPPs), and those who are identified as English Language Learners (ELL). This includes, but is not limited to, program planning, learning supports and accommodations, enrichment, and counselling. Additionally, we provide support in the areas of literacy and numeracy through Pull-out Resource intervention. The ultimate goal is to help each student reach their full potential and be a confident learner.
The GAIN team educates, empowers and advocates for the children at the CJA on a daily basis. This program is headed up by Jessica Rynn. Children are identified by their teachers as possible candidates for the GAIN program throughout the school year. If you feel that your child may benefit from this program, please feel free to discuss further with your child’s teacher.
The Calgary Jewish Academy gratefully acknowledges the ongoing support of the Calgary Jewish Federation of Calgary for their generous contributions to the GAIN program.
