A Joyful Shabbat Celebration at Calgary Jewish Academy’s PJ Goes to Preschool

On February 9th, 2024, the Calgary Jewish Academy (CJA) opened its doors to families across Calgary for the heartwarming celebration of our annual PJ Goes to Preschool event. In collaboration with PJ Library, this special day brought the essence of Shabbat to life, offering a glimpse into preschool life at CJA and strengthening ties with young families in the Calgary Jewish community.

The morning kicked off with a delightful Shabbat service led by our preschool students and teachers. Excitement filled the air as young voices sang songs, shared Shabbat stories, and recited traditional blessings. The event beautifully showcased the richness of Jewish traditions embodied by our preschoolers, creating lasting memories for both students and families.

After the Shabbat celebration, guests were invited into the CJA Learning Commons for crafts and a reading of Goodnight Bubbala, a joyful Yiddish parody of the classic bedtime story Goodnight Moon.

At CJA, we are more than just educators; we are dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community and Jewish identity. Through meaningful experiences like PJ Goes to Preschool, we aim to encourage the development of unique personal connections to Judaism. This event perfectly captures the spirit of CJA’s commitment to education, where identity, culture, and community seamlessly intertwine to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of our students and their families.
