Grandparents

A Celebration of L’dor V’dor

Jewish tradition teaches us l’dor v’dor—from generation to generation. Grandparents have a unique role in carrying that tradition forward.

Whether you live around the corner or across the country, the love, wisdom, stories and traditions you share help your grandchildren understand where they come from and shape who they will become.

At the Calgary Jewish Academy, we are grateful for the important role you play in our students’ lives and welcome you as part of our school community.

Generations Day

EXPERIENCE CJA THROUGH YOUR GRANDCHILD’S EYES

One of CJA’s most cherished traditions, Generations Day (previously Grandparents & Grandpals Day) celebrates l’dor v’dor across the CJA school community. It is a truly special morning that celebrates the bond between CJA students and the grandparents and special adults who are part of their lives.

Generations Day includes a special student-led celebration, a Shabbat program, coffee and conversation, and time with your grandchild through shared activities around the school that celebrate the traditions, values, and connections passed from one generation to the next.

If a grandparent is unable to attend, students are welcome to invite another relative or special adult in their life.

Stay In Touch

Throughout the school year, grandparents are invited to join us for special CJA traditions, including:

  • Generations Day
  • Latke Lunch
  • Early Years Hanukkah Celebration
  • Pancake Breakfast

Sign up for our email list to receive invitations, event details, and occasional news from CJA.

Dates and registration details are shared directly with CJA families and invited guests.

Know another CJA grandparent?

Invite them to join our list and stay connected, too!

Generations of Love

More than a century ago*, Calgary’s Jewish community made a remarkable investment in the next generation.

Today, that commitment continues through the Calgary Jewish Academy.

Tuition provides the foundation. Philanthropy expands what’s possible.

Your support keeps our school vibrant and strong, connecting the past with the future and giving students a strong education grounded in Jewish identity, values, and community.

Every generation has played a role in strengthening Jewish education in Calgary. Today, you can help carry that commitment forward.

INVEST IN THE FUTURE OF CJA. DONATE TODAY.

Tribute Gifts

Celebrate the bond you share with your grandchild through a tribute gift in their honour. Your grandchild will receive a personalized tribute certificate recognizing your gift and celebrating the tradition of l’dor v’dor.

Your gift supports the CJA Annual Fund, helping provide the programs, resources and opportunities that enrich teaching and learning throughout the school. The Annual Fund supports school-wide programs and operating needs, helping bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the full cost of a CJA education.

Planned Giving

You can also make an impact by participating in the Life & Legacy® program. Designating a future gift to the Calgary Jewish Academy helps ensure that generations to come receive the wonderful gift of a Jewish education.

Generational Giving to CJA

Some gifts make a difference today.
Others help shape the future.

Every gift to CJA carries forward a legacy of Jewish education, l’dor v’dor.

*In the 2027-2028 school year, the CJA community will celebrate three significant milestones: the 115th anniversary of the Calgary Hebrew School, the 100th anniversary of I.L. Peretz School, and the 40th anniversary of The Calgary Jewish Academy. We are deeply grateful to the generations of families, educators, donors, volunteers, and community members whose commitment has strengthened Jewish day school education in Calgary and continues to inspire future generations.
