School Counsellor

School Counsellor

The Calgary Jewish Community is seeking an experienced part-time school counsellor. Individual will be responsible for providing counselling and guidance services to students within a private school setting. This position involves supporting students’ social, emotional, well-being, collaborating with parents, teachers, and administrators to create a positive and safe learning environment. Key Responsibilities Individual Counselling: Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with students to support social, emotional, and academic concerns, providing support and guidance tailored to their unique needs. Provide counselling sessions, focusing on topics such as stress management, conflict, study skills, and self-esteem building. Ability respond to urgent situations and provide immediate support to students experiencing emotional crises, working closely with relevant stakeholders, such as parents, teachers, and administrators. Collaborative Support: Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop intervention plans, provide consultation, and ensure a cohesive support system for students. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including counselling sessions. Professional Development: Stay current with research and best practices in school counselling by attending relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.

Position Overview: The Calgary Jewish Academy is looking to a hire a highly motivated and qualified individual to teach Grade 4 – 9 Alberta Curriculum-specific area TBA depending on candidate area of strength, as well as additional courses as required for the upcoming school year (2025 – 2026). Consideration will be given to those individuals who: Have experience with upper elementary junior high Math & Science Have experience in Technology Integration across curriculum areas Provide high standards of academics Provide differentiated instruction in a small classroom space for students Qualifications and Experience: Have a Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate – Interim or Permanent Have a Bachelor of Education Degree or experience and equivalent recognized by Alberta Education Teach according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students (ie. differentiated instruction) Be adaptable and flexible in a supportive learning environment Be committed to working as a team member in a collaborative setting Have strong communication and classroom management skills Be committed to professional development and the vision and mission of the CJA
