At the Calgary Jewish Academy, families find more than a school; they find a kehilah, a community grounded in learning, identity, and belonging. Children are truly known, and learning, values, and relationships are deeply connected.
CJA is a Nursery to Grade 9 community school that brings together strong academics, Jewish studies, Hebrew, and Jewish traditions in a supportive, inclusive environment. We partner closely with families to support each child’s academic, social, and personal growth.
This page offers an introduction to who we are, how learning happens at CJA, and what families value most about their experience.
Calgary Jewish Academy is a community school made up of families from diverse Jewish backgrounds who share a commitment to strong academics, Jewish identity, and a supportive learning environment where children are truly known.
More than a school, CJA is a mishpacha — a connected network of students, parents, educators, alumni, grandparents, and friends. These relationships form the foundation of school life and reflect a shared investment in children’s growth, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.
Jewish education has been part of Calgary’s community life for more than a century. Beginning in 1910, early learning spaces were created to support a growing Jewish population and a shared commitment to education and continuity.
Today, Calgary Jewish Academy and its predecessor schools represent generations of learning. CJA graduates carry forward a strong foundation of academic skills, Jewish values, and identity, contributing thoughtfully to their communities and chosen fields.
Families at CJA come from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, but share common values around learning, identity, and belonging. What families most often speak about is not just individual programs, but the overall experience of being part of the CJA community.
