French Teacher

The Calgary Jewish Academy is seeking a French teacher to fill a 0.5 contract until December 23rd, 2023, with potential for future opportunities within the school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the French language and culture and be able to deliver French curriculum to students in grades 3-9.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in French language, literature, and culture to students.
  • Create lessons that foster student engagement with challenging and motivating content.
  • Build rapport with students and ensure that they know where they stand academically.
  • Motivate students to achieve their full potential.
  • Provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Develop and implement differentiated instructional methodologies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in student files.
  • Prepare lesson plans, individual assessments, and progress reports.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  • Ability to teach French as a second language.
  • Familiarity with instructional and educational technology.
  • The ability to differentiate and support a range of diverse learners.
  • A strong understanding of formative and summative assessment practices and strategies.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Salary & Compensation:

  • Commensurate with experience.
