Each and every faculty member is dedicated to providing meaningful learning experiences for our students. We would like to advise you that we will be continuing with the modified calendar that was approved by Alberta Education and shared with you on Sunday morning; however, we will not be conducting the phone parent teacher interviews on Thursday afternoon. Instead, we will provide an opportunity in April for phone interviews as our teachers are now working on building online programs and developing virtual learning opportunities.
Our Spring Break will commence on Friday, March 20th. Teachers will be commence their online and virtual classroom environments on April 2nd, 2020. We will be communicating with our students and parents with the details related to the online platforms we will utilize prior to the commencement of our Spring Break. These programs will provide a repository for materials, resources, learning products as well as a virtual space for teachers to communicate short instruction to our students.
Students in grades one to nine were provided with materials on Friday prior to leaving the school and those students who were absent have been contacted. Teachers will be in contact with parents and students if materials were not sent home for specific courses and these materials will be available before the end of the day Thursday, March 19th, 2020.
We will be providing a variety of learning opportunities for our younger children. Children in Nursery, JK and Kindergarten will receive their learning materials and resources from their teachers and receive information elated to their virtual classroom programming through their teachers.
We will continue to update our families with a Virtual Timetable once this is finalized. We will have a few challenges with providing virtual learning as many of you have multiple children across various grade levels. Our staff is very creative and we will figure out how we can support real time learning as well as online resource support, despite these challenges. We will also have several staff available to support learners with one on one tutorials. Ms. Seeger and Ms. Rynn will be coordinating this support with our teaching faculty.
We will be advising parents tomorrow of a staggered alpha by last name, pick up schedule for items. Pick up day will be Thursday, March 19th. At this time students will be able to pick up their locker contents, desk items and personal items which have been left at the school. Cathy Kropf will be sharing this information with you tomorrow afternoon. All access to the building will be through the front doors. The rear gate will not be open. We ask that you do not congregate with your child in the hallways, but go directly to their classroom and then pick up their locker items. We will be completely sanitizing the school in the coming weeks and it is imperative that all items are taken home.
Thank you again for your support. Please know that our teachers and staff are working extremely hard at a very difficult time to make sure students will be engaged, learn and meet the outcomes of the program of studies for all curricular areas at CJA.
