The Calgary Jewish Academy Mission Statement
In the belief that education is the
foundation of a child's life, and that Jewish education should
be the cornerstone for Jewish children, The Calgary Jewish
Academy seeks to create an excellent learning environment
in which students are encouraged to develop
to their fullest potential.
In support of our mission we offer:
| |
a day school program
for preschool through Grade 9, and credit extension courses
for high school students;superior quality instruction
in both the Alberta and Judaic curricula; |
| |
an environment
which is respectful to the wide range of personal beliefs
and practices within the Jewish community; |
| |
instruction in the
Hebrew and Yiddish languages, Bible, Mishna, Jewish History,
and Israel; |
| |
opportunities for
Jewish experiences and holiday celebrations to strengthen
the students' Jewish identity; a program that promotes
good citizenship in the community at large; |
| |
special services,
such as educational assessments, counselling, resource
room instruction, and remedial and rapid track Hebrew;
integration, wherever possible, of the Alberta and Judaic
curricula; enrichment and optional courses in addition
to the core Alberta curriculum; and extracurricular and
intramural programs. |
Our goal is that, having been challenged
and stimulated, students will feel positivelyabout themselves,
those around them, the educational process in which they have
been involved, and Jewish Heritage. This goal is achieved
through an active partnership
involving students, parents, staff, alumni and supporters.
