The Calgary Jewish Academy offers a
comprehensive and stimulating program of studies, from Preschool
to Grade 9. The superiority of our programs is ensured by
annual program evaluations.
Pre-School
Our extensively enriched three-year program emphasizes Jewish
Culture and Religion, celebration of Shabbat and Festivals,
Hebrew Language, Physical Education, Library Skills, Grade
One Readiness Activities, Art, Field Trips, Music, Drama and
Computer.
Our professional staff, trained and experienced in early childhood
education, recognize the long term significance of a pre-school
program which balances creative learning, socialization, and
Jewish awareness. A fully integrated curriculum assures continuity
from class to class and for smooth articulation to the grade
school classes. Careful attention is paid to individual differences
and needs.
In addition to our regular three morning and five morning
programs, a unique Kinder Arts program, which emphasizes growth
in the Fine Arts, is offered as an afternoon option for ECS
students.
Elementary School
Slightly more than half of the students' school week is devoted
to the Alberta Provincial curriculum. Judaic Studies makes
up the balance and includes a modern Hebrew language course,
Tal Am Tal Sela, developed in Canada. The program also incorporates
Yiddish language and culture.
Teachers are able to enrich the curriculum, given relatively
small class sizes. The program is supplemented with both a
rapid track program for students entering after Grade One,
and remedial programs in Hebrew and English Language Arts
and Mathematics. Computer literacy, Music, French and Physical
Education round out our students' elementary experience.

Junior High School
The Junior High program builds on the foundation of both the
Alberta and Judaic elementary programs to provide an enriched
learning experience which prepares the student for future
advancement. Complementing their academic activities, students
assume leadership positions on the Student Council, sports
teams, trips and extra-curricular activities.
Physical Education, French and a number of options are integral
to the students development. All courses are taught by subject
specialists. The Calgary Jewish Academy graduates are recognized
as having achieved a high level of academic excellence. They
are welcomed to the various high schools, both private and
public, where they do extremely well.
